Taking Antihistamines for Colds |
One of the treatments for colds is to take antihistamines; this can be found in both over the counter medications or in prescription medications and is one that will help by clearing the sinuses and other cold symptoms. Histamine when introduced in the body can cause sneezing, coughing, runny nose, and clogged sinuses, and the antihistamine is able to prevent histamines from attaching to the cells in the body. This means it is able to prevent the clogging of sinuses, runny nose, coughing and sneezing. Antihistamines is also used in the prevention of allergy attacks, which makes it a good choice when a person is unsure whether they have a cold or are suffering from allergies. There are some side effects associated with antihistamines, like drowsiness, which can be severe in some people. Things such as alcohol, sedatives and tranquilizers should not be taken when taking antihistamines as this can cause a dangerous reaction along with the medicine that causes drowsiness. |
