What is Strep Throat? |
People often make mistake of calling strep throat as sore throat but there is difference between the two. Out of several causes of throat infection and sore throat, strep throat is one of the causes. Children and adolescents are most common sufferers from strep throat but it can affect people of any ages. Strep throat is caused by bacteria named streptococcal which is contagious in nature. Tonsils, pain in the throat, throat swelling are some of the symptoms of strep throat. The strep throat bacteria are present in nose and throat of the infected person, so when they sneeze or cough the person in the vicinity of the infected person gets the infection. It can also pass through medium such as books, tables or hand shaking. Swelling of the throat, headache, body pain, irritation and frustration are the symptoms of strep throat. Irritation of the throat, fatigue throughout the day, and change in mood are some other signs of strep throat. Due to swelling in the throat it will be difficult to swallow food thereby reducing the resistance power of body so drink large amount of water and fresh fruit juices and vegetables soups to improve the fighting strength of the body. Strep throat needs antibiotics treatment for curing. |
