What is Stomach Flu?

Stomach Flu is a viral infection that causes disorders in the small intestine and stomach. In medical terms this condition is referred as gastroenteritis. This infection is triggered by multiple strains of viruses and lasts for a short period of 1 to 3 days only. Some of the potent viruses responsible for the spread of this illness are rotaviruses, Norwalk virus and the adenoviruses. A patient gets distressed from this condition if he consumes one of the above viruses via contaminated foods, contact with an infected person in form of kissing, hand shaking or share of personal belongings of the person affected by this condition.

The virus enters the body and swims across the blood stream to infest at the stomach and nearby intestines. It significantly causes inflammation in varied organs of the stomach. As a consequence, the stomach and intestines temporarily fail to function in its normal way. This leads to abdominal distresses like pain, indigestion, gas, bloating or constipation. In some cases, this virus forces the movement of the consumed food through the gastronomical tract. The onset of this flu can be identified with symptoms like stomach cramps, diarrhea or vomiting. This condition can be cured by taking multiple anti-bodies to combat the virus in the body.
