Side Effects of Dristan Decongestant Nasal Mist

Like most other medications, Dristan Decongestant Nasal Mist may cause adverse effects.  Mild side effects are usually only temporary and disappear with time and use of the product.  More severe adverse reactions may be permanent.  Side effects can vary from one person to another.

Side effects that can be considered minor include burning or dryness in the nostrils, continued sneezing, difficulty sleeping, and excess nasal discharge.  Most of these reactions will go away on their own, although if they persist or worsen you should contact your doctor.

Serious health problems can occur with the use of oxymetazoline sprays.  Adverse effects of this nature can lead to serious health problems, to include blurred vision, dizzy spells, heart irregularities, and high blood pressure.

Women who become pregnant while using Dristan Decongestant Nasal Mist should contact their doctor to discuss the effect the medication may have on the fetus.  Nursing mothers should discuss use of the nasal spray before using the product.  Oxymetazoline sprays should not be used during pregnancy, unless the benefits far outweigh the risk factor.

Contact your doctor if you have any concerns about possible side effects as a result of using Dristan Decongestant Nasal Mist.  Use this product only as directed, excessive use can increase the risk of side effects.
