Eucalyptus is botanically known as Eucalyptus globules Labill and is from the family Myrtaceae, this is a tall evergreen tree that is native to both Australia and Tasmania, but can now be found in many regions. The eucalyptus oil is rich in cineole, which is also known as eucalyptol and I an anti-brochitic. Eucalyptus cream or ointment is known for increasing blood flow to the area it is put on and there are over the counter eucalyptus cough drops, and many are a mixture of mentho-lyptus. This is a plant medicine that works for easing the symptoms of colds, bronchitis and other respiratory problems as a cooling expectorant effect. The side effects associated with eucalyptus oil are few and in most cases there are no ill effects as this is in an ointment form the reaction could consist of a rash of types. There are some people that should not use this plant treatment, including women that are pregnant and people that are on hypoglycemia therapy. |
