Echinacea for Cold and Flu Treatment |
Echinacea is an herbal that has become popular in the treatment of colds and flu, and is from the botanical family of Asteraceae. The plant that Echinacea is made from is commonly called the purple cornflower, American cone flower, black Susan; black Sampson, comb flower hedgehog, Indian head, Kansas snakeroot and other names. The properties in this flower are able to help clam the symptoms of the common cold, from parts of the leaves, flowers and roots of the plant. This is an herbal medication that should not be taken by some people due to other conditions or medications, such as people with multiple sclerosis, people that have white blood cell disorders, along with collagen disorders. People that have diseases such as HIV, AIDS, and other autoimmune disorders and people that have tuberculosis. People that are on medications for other disorders or diseases should speak with their physician prior to using Echinacea as a treatment for cold or flu. |
