What Does Coughing Do?

Coughing is an essential activity of our body. This is one of the significant ways when our body throws excess of dirt, irritants in form of smoke and household dust, out of our body. An average human undergoes a daily exposure to harmful UV rays and pollutants in the air. These irritants settle on the surface of the respiratory tract which is then violently propelled out of our body system via coughing. People who get bitten by poisonous insects or bugs have infestations of deadly bacteria or virus inside the body. In order to get rid of the harmful infestations, our body uses the mucus membranes to exit these toxins from our body. This essential activity maintains the health of our immune system and integral organs.

At times the bowel system of our body gets damaged due to various reasons. In such a condition, all the toxic agents in the bowel get forcefully diverted upwards to the respiratory tract. This toxic accumulation is then kicked out of the body through dry or sometimes liquid coughs. Therefore, people are always discouraged from suppressing their coughs as doing this re-enters the same toxic build-up back to the system. This can trigger a number of viral as well as bacterial based infections.
