Can Children Get Swine Flu? |
Children are more prone to swine flu as in the case of seasonal flu. Kids less than 5 years old are at a higher risk of swine flu. Swine flu creates complications for children because children face higher health risk including problems in breathing or respiratory disorders. Some of the complications that are serious and are outcomes of swine flu are heart problems, weaker immunity, kidney disorders, neurological disorders etc. Children are always at a higher risk as far as flu is concerned. This includes swine flu as well as seasonal flu. It is therefore a matter of concern for parents who are worried that their children may contract this flu. Parents must educate children about the preventive measures like maintaining hygiene, not keeping in physical contact with little sick children, using tissues while sneezing and coughing, washing hands thoroughly after coming from outside etc. Children have a weaker defense mechanism as compared to elders and therefore it is worth noting that the risk factor of swine flu will be higher. As soon as parents come across the flu like symptoms in children, they must contact their medical practitioner or help. Preventive measures and right kind of treatment will avoid the risk of swine flu among children. |
